Our housing system works well for the two million landlords in England – but it doesn’t work for tenants. Too often renters spend half their income on rent, only to face poor conditions and no secure place to call home. Meanwhile, landlords make billions in profit every year.
This election, organisations from across the renters movement have put together a Renters Manifesto to make clear to all the main political parties need to do to address the housing crisis.
It's a bold, radical manifesto including calls for:
- Rent controls so no one has to spend more than a third of their income on rent.
- Public investment in a massive public housebuilding programme.
- Private rented homes brought into democratic public ownership.
- An end to Section 21 evictions once and for all.
And much more! You can download the full manifesto here.
